Our music has always been driven by storytelling. Our first album was comprised of a bunch of songs that each told their own story. Starting with our latest album, “Curious Extraction: The Horizon Unearthed,” we decided to think bigger picture. We began by crafting a universe, and the stories that are pulled from that universe are part of an archive that we call “Trace Artifact.”

Our album is titled “Curious Extraction: The Horizon Unearthed.” The comic book that accompanies the album is titled “Trace Artifact: Curious Extraction.” Both are part of the same story, but neither is complete. There are moments in the story that you wouldn’t get if you only read the comic, and the same is true if you only listened to the music.

It’s the year 2084. Mankind is completely self-reliant, embracing science and discovery to meet its every need. But the world is collapsing, and great geological catastrophes are taking place around the planet on a regular basis. The global scientific community is treating the symptoms of these occurrences, but remains ignorant of the cause. That is, until one day when a scientist makes a curious discovery that guides her attention deep below the earth’s crust…
